A Lot to Love at Barlata

Whether you’re looking for a happy hour meet-up or a new date night spot, Barlata’s extensive menu of Spanish classics offers something for everyone.

Start out with an item or two off the latas menu, small tin cans filled with gourmet veggies, meat, or seafood.  (Barlata, which translates to “can bar,” gets its name based on these unique snacks.)  We chose the mushrooms, pine nuts and currants and were amazed at how much flavor was packed into such a small can.

As much as we love paella, we opted to try a selection of hot and cold tapas.  Each dish was brought out individually, allowing us to dine leisurely in true Barcelona fashion.  The restaurant typically recommends 2-3 small plates person, but the beauty of tapas-style dining is you can always order more.

Admittedly, the menu can be a bit overwhelming, but fortunately the restaurant offers a great happy hour menu where you can choose from an assortment of tapas, nightly paella and drink pairings at reduced prices.  We’re also looking forward to trying their brunch menu, offered on both Saturday and Sunday.

With a bright and open interior that somehow manages to still be cozy and intimate, Barlata is the perfect gathering place for groups and couples alike.  If you’re looking for something a little different, they’ve even started offering flamenco every other Sunday night.
