There are a few things Austin's culinary scene is known for - small plates, creativity, ingredients local purveyors, and of course, always trying to use ingredients that are in season! Now that we've rolled into Fall, we thought we'd share some of Austin's best breads, spreads, and salads featuring seasonal ingredients.

Breads & Spreads

Apothecary Café & Wine Bar offers Cheese Bread which has artisan cheese, that rotates often, in between house made dough and then is cooked to order and served with Eggplant Caponata.
Due Forni does an Italian take on breads & spreads with their Mozzarella Bar. They use house made Neapolitan-style bread and serve it with one of three choices of mozzarella, like creamy stracciatella, with two sides including roasted red peppers, house made pesto or marinated artichokes.
Drink.Well has an eggplant puree that is spread on a flatbread with zucchini, mushrooms and fresh arugula and then topped with EVOO, salt and pepper. The great thing about this is it is a vegan dish!
Lenoir offers a bread and spread every night and it rotates as often as their seasonal menu. An few examples include the Smoked Fish spread with dill and cream cheese as well as Curried Sweet Potato both are served with house made naan.
Odd Duck makes house cultured butter and serves it with their Onion Bread. Right now it is served on the lunch, afternoon snack and dinner menus.

Seasonal Salads

Drink.Well has a Kale & Butternut Squash Salad with fresh kale greens, warm butternut squash, roasted beets and sherry-stewed red onion all tossed with a honey-balsamic dressing. Parmesan cheese and sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
Epicerie does a Beet & Barley Salad with yogurt, mint, pumpkin seeds, and a tarragon vinaigrette.
Péché has a hearty winter salad made with grilled lamb cheek, frisée, lardons, soft boiled Vital Farms egg and a bacon vinaigrette.
Apothecary will be featuring a Fall Salad with flowering purple and white kale tossed with a pumpkin seed vinaigrette then finished with a fried goat cheese fritter crusted with pepitas and blood orange segments.
