With Valentine’s Day around the corner, hint hint guys, it’s the perfect time to take a look at the best macarons in town.

La Patisserie Bakery

Upon entering La Patisserie, located in a charming house on South First Street, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a quaint French bakery. Any francophile will be pleased with their delicious treats ranging from financier, gâteau l’opera, mille-feuille or of course their signature and beloved macarons. The macarons are available in classic flavors like: espresso chocolate, french vanilla, toasted almond, pistachio, caramel fleur de sel, rose, and lavender. You can plan ahead by placing your order now for Valentine’s Day pick-up.

Bon Bon Macaron (THIS BUSINESS IS NOW CLOSED)

Once only available at the Austin Farmers Market, Bon Bon Macaron recently opened a storefront on South Lamar. The husband and wife team bake inventive and fresh macarons daily and sell them until they are gone. Some of my favorites included: fruity pebbles, chipotle chocolate with sea salt, and hazelnut with nutella.  Make sure to arrive early to ensure you get to taste their speciality, a large raspberry macaron filled with berries and buttercream icing. Parking is available in the 704 apartment garage.

Walton’s Fancy & Staple

Sandra Bullock’s restaurant, deli, florist and more has one of the best dessert cases in town. This month Walton's Fancy & Staple is filled to the brim with Valentine’s Day treats. Among heart shaped cookies, doughnuts and brownies are their delicious macarons. Available in a rainbow of flavors I recommend the cayenne peanut butter, pistachio, and passion fruit. You can also pick up some flowers while you’re there.

LaV    (THIS BUSINESS IS CLOSED)

Arguably one of the best French restaurants in town there are obvious reasons laV would be a go-to stop for macarons. The upscale eatery, located on the eastside, offers a rotating dessert menu that often times features macarons. A favorite flavor, that is also on the brunch menu, is the snickers macaron. Boasting salted caramel and hazelnut flavors, these are impossible to resist.

Baguette et Chocolat

Don’t let the distance keep you from experiencing Baguette et Chocolat’s delicious macarons. This french bakery and deli is located in the Hill Country Galleria and is worth the trek. The inviting atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. The real star is their dessert case which features French pastries such as eclairs, meringue, and colorful macarons. The macarons are light, fluffy, and irresistible.

No need to fly to France, Austin offers plenty of places to indulge your macaron sweet tooth.
