Baguette et Choocolat is worth a trip out to the Hill Country Galleria area to dine on some delicious crepes, salads, sandwiches, and pastries.  The shop is a bit off the beaten path in a strip center on Bee Cave Road, but it offers a cheerful ambiance for breakfast and lunch 6 days a week (closed Mondays).  Be sure to bring a big group or a big appetite – the menu is so large you’re going to have a tough time deciding.

French pastries at Baguette et Chocolat

Breakfast lovers can choose from a variety of hearty omelettes or breakfast sandwiches served on croissants or baguettes.  For a bit lighter meal, check out the crepes, from salty Cabri (prosciutto, goat cheese and tomato) to sweet Chocolat Profiterole.  Our personal favorite is the Nutella, but we’re excited to try out the Normande (apples and cinnamon) and the traditional lemon pastry cream.

Next up are the sandwiches and paninis.  Meat lovers can enjoy selections including ham, chicken, prosciutto, smoked turkey and salami, but vegetarians need not fear.  Try out the Formaggio or Brie sandwich, each served with tomato, cucumber, olive oil, fresh basil and romaine lettuce. While we’re on the subject of sandwiches, we cannot overlook the croque madame.  Though it’s one of the heavier items on the menu, it’s hard to resist the decadent Mornay sauce and perfectly cooked fried egg.

Among other French specialties, Baguette also serves up a selection of quiches, like traditional Lorraine or Florentine, and specials like Goat Cheese and Tomato.

Even if you don’t have room for dessert, who can turn down a case full of beautiful French pastries and colorful macarons? From lemon meringue to chocolate eclairs, Baguette’s selection of fine pastries offers something for every kind of sweet tooth.
