Jack Allen’s Kitchen in Round Rock offers a delicious refuge among a sea of chain restaurants along I-35. I’ve been to their other Austin location many times, but this was my first time dining up north. The space seems a bit larger, but the restaurant still exudes the same clean, modern, airy vibe that diners have come to love.

Charming and colorful decor throughout the restaurant

But let’s face it - crowds aren’t flocking to Jack Allen’s simply for the décor. The food is a true standout, and Sunday brunch is a great time to go so you can sample a bunch of dishes. For $16.99, you’ll enjoy a wide variety of hot dishes, baked goods, and made-to-order biscuits, eggs, and the most adorable silver dollar pancakes.

Just a portion of the plentiful brunch buffet options

Of course a heaping plate of buffet items doesn’t always offer the best photo opp, but a few of our favorites included: green chile macaroni and cheese, chicken fried chicken, tomato basil pie, pimento grits, and the Mama’s chicken drowned in a sea of mushroom gravy.

Save room for pastries!

But be sure to also leave room for dessert. We loved the homemade cranberry muffins with crumb topping, and who could resist the plate of fresh Round Rock donuts with the melt-in-your-mouth glaze?

The Round Rock Donuts and cranberry muffins were standouts among the pastry options.

With food like this, there is almost always a wait. It’s best to try to arrive early, but even if there’s a line of people, grab a mimosa and start coming up with your plan of attack when your table is called.
