Breakfast Perfection at Josephine House

Beautiful, decadent brunch spreads are all the rage in Austin, and even on our blog we're happy to highlight delicious spot to spend a few weekend hours indulging. But we can't forget about weekdays! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Josephine House is the perfect place to fuel up in a relaxing atmosphere before attacking your day.

Breakfast at Josephine House is served Monday through Friday from 8am-10:30am. Many of the items found on the breakfast menu can also be found during their weekend brunch, flanked by more extravagant options, but the weekday breakfast is decidedly basic. But even basic at Josephine House is lovely. Now that nice patio weather (read: no sweating involved) is in full swing, it's the perfect time to enjoy a morning meal on the front lawn or back patio at Josephine House.

It's so pretty, it hurts!

Because a weekday breakfast can be difficult to squeeze into a workday, you'll find plenty of open tables and booths at the restaurant. I took my pick and chose a beautiful little table for two under a tree on the back patio. So perfectly, a leaf floated down to the table right after my cappuccino arrived. Sure, it may still be 80 degrees in November, but after a hot Indian summer, I'm happy the temperature's under 90. If caffeine isn't your thing, Josephine House has a variety of juices and teas.

The breakfast menu lists a variety of choices from light to heavy, so it's easy to make a pick based on how hungry you're feeling. While the idea of Lemon Ricotta Pancakes had me drooling, I opted for their cereal bowl, made with a house blend of oats, nuts, seeds, toasted coconut, and berries, accompanied by their housemade nut milk. Never one to pass up a savory option, a side of crispy bacon completed my order. The cereal was absolutely delicious, a serious upgrade from my daily Cheerios ritual. The bacon (4 pieces per order, definitely enough to share) was cooked to perfection.

If you're finding yourself on the hungrier side, the Avocado Toast isn't to be missed. Other heavier options include Huevos Rancheros, a Fried Egg Sandwich, and a veggie-filled Fall Frittata. No matter what you order, you should definitely take a stroll by the marble pastry counter inside and treat yourself to something from their baked goods. Some of their house baked pastries include a Nutella Morning Bun, assorted scones, cookies, and muffins.

Even if you don't have much of an appetite in the morning, Josephine House is worthy of a morning visit just for a juice or coffee alone. The relaxing atmosphere is surely the best place to kick off your day.
