Brunch at South Austin's Crema Bakery and Cafe

As Austin grows, it's becoming harder and harder to get brunch without a reservation or a long wait. Next time you're looking to grab a morning bite, visit Crema Bakery & Cafe. Owner Jessica Forkner opened this Brodie Lane cafe in April 2013, and prior to that had a business making chocolate and cake balls.

Crema has managed to fly under the radar until now, probably in part thanks to their location so far south in Austin. But over the course of my last few visits, I've noticed the restaurant gaining steam. And it's no wonder why! Their brunch dishes have been on point every time I've been!

Crema serves a variety of Eggs Benedict dishes, including the Classic Benny pictured below. Wanting to try something different? Other eggs benedict options include the Carnitas Benny which features savory pork carnitas, avocado, and a cilantro-lime hollandaise; the Hippie Benny which is served with mushrooms, onion, tomato, peppers, spinach, and hollandaise; and we especially love the healthy California Benny, which comes with avocado, grilled turkey bacon, and a classic hollandaise.

Crema features a few lighter breakfast options like the Yogurt and Housemade Granola (pictured below) or Oatmeal. Other egg dishes include a variety of omelets, breakfast tacos, a breakfast BLT, a morning quesadilla, and a breakfast croissant sandwich. We tried their brunch special on our last visit, a tomato, cheese, basil pie with a fried egg on top and a salad side. Delicious!

Brunch special- tomato pie with fried egg on top. So good!

Indulge your sweet tooth with the Challah French Toast or Buttermilk Pancakes. Or better yet, get a load of their freshly baked goodies by the register. You'll find muffins, cupcakes, scones, cookies, and other desserts galore! We highly recommend trying their cake balls, even if it is breakfast or brunch- they're not to be missed!

Desserts! Get in my belly!

Holy bakery, Batman!

Crema Bakery is an awesome brunch spot that also happens to serve breakfast every day of the week. It has plenty of parking, you pay at the counter, and service is quick. It's also a great place for groups and kids. What's not to like? Check it out soon!
