As Austin grows, scoring a table for a group gets tougher, especially during brunch.  Stella San Jac to the rescue! The upscale yet casual restaurant accepts reservations for groups of all sizes, and there's plenty of seating to accommodate everyone. The brunch menu is a definite crowd pleaser, with wide ranging options that'll appeal to even the pickiest of eaters.

This past weekend, with hunger developing at a rapid clip, I made a last minute reservation for 4 adults and a toddler at Stella San Jac downtown. To my delighted surprise, they were easily able to accommodate us with no trouble at the last moment! They gave us a great table with an outdoor view - the perfect distraction for a kid. We sat down and immediately ordered the biscuits to keep our hunger at bay. They landed on the table quickly and were gobbled up too fast to grab a photo! Trust me when I say they were beautiful and delicious - warm and flaky accompanied by whipped honey butter - everything a biscuit should be. The Deviled Eggs with Andouille Sausage were also a big hit.

If you're looking for a healthier start, Stella San Jac offers four different fresh squeezed juices made with ingredients like carrot, coconut, lemon, cucumber, pomegranate, orange, and ginger. If a morning cocktail is more your speed, there's a good selection of "brunchtails" including a Bacon Bloody Mary, a Stellamosa (mimosa), Chai Milk Punch, an Irish Coffee Ball, and more. We skipped specialty cocktails and juices and went straight for the food. The Blueberry French Toast is definitely the most decadent choice for brunch. Instead of regular french toast, it's made with pound cake and is a great dish to share amongst a group. The Chorizo and Potato Tacos are a solid choice, and were enjoyed by both my husband and our toddler - the only criticism here is that it would've been nice if accompanied by some beans or potatoes.

The American Choice is a classic - two eggs your way, choice of meat, and hash browns. It's a generous serving that could be split amongst two. If your brunch is turning into more of a lunch, we highly suggest the Short Rib Grilled Cheese, made with Hawaiian Rolls (like 6 of them!), smoked cheddar, carmelized onions, and tender short rib. This is how all grilled cheeses should be made. The housemade pickles and french fries were also on point! One note though, this sandwich put me down for a nap roughly an hour later. I don't regret it.

Tables and dining also available in the Stella San Jac bar.

With not a single complaint to be heard during the meal, I can report back that this is a very solid brunch spot downtown. My dining mates had also already visited for lunch and commented that their meal then was delicious too. So whether you're hitting Stella San Jac for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, you can expect a great meal, an entertaining atmosphere, and super friendly service.
