If you're looking for a cozy, intimate, and delicious spot for lunch downtown, your options might be limited. Get away from the crowds by popping into The Backspace on San Jacinto and 6th. Sister restaurant to Parkside (located just around the corner), Olive & June, and Chavez, The Backspace serves Neapolitan-style pizza, antipasti, fresh salads, and also offers a great wine and beer list.

The Backspace only seats about 30, so don't plan on coming here with a group. This restaurant is best for nestling up at a table or the bar with your closest friend or two. And the plates are also great for sharing with a small group. Keep your meal light with a selection of antipasti like roasted beets or roasted okra. Also great for sharing are the cheese and meat board, the oven roasted shishito peppers, or the lamb and pork meatballs. If you need something a little more substantial, order a pizza or two. Cooked right in front of your eyes in the massive oven, these pizzas hit the spot every time.

Assorted antipasti

Housemade mozzarella, basil, balsamic, tomatoes

Oven roasted asparagus, pancetta, pecorino, lemon zest

Pizza! Pepperoni americano, picante salame, tomato, mozzarella, basil

Pizzas in The Backspace oven

If you're interested in trying The Backspace on a budget, go for Happy Hour, daily from 5pm-6:30pm- you'll get 1/2 off all antipasti, beer, and wine by the glass!
