There’s nothing more charming than al fresco dining on the farm. With Eden East at Springdale Farm, you can do just that without having to leave the comforts of the Austin city limits. Each month features a new prix fixe menu of locally sourced dishes designed by the chef. Plus, this is one of the rare spots that lets you BYOB, so grab a bottle of your favorite rosé for your visit.

The dining set up offers a supper club atmosphere.

We had the pleasure of being invited to sample the creations on the August menu and cocktails featuring Deep Eddy vodka.

The bartender whipped up cocktails featuring homemade juice blends.

We started out the evening sipping on watermelon mint cocktails and strolling through the gardens. If you’re up for a walk, you can even trek through the farm’s crop fields. We also made friends with the chickens and some free roaming ducks.

A small bite of the Tempura Stuffed Okra to kick things off.

Our five course dinner included the Tempura Stuffed Okra, which is a nice bite to get you started. Our first course was a refreshing summer salad the Texas Big Beet which includes shaved squash and summer greens tossed in a dijon vinaigrette sauce.

Our second course was the beautifully plated Yellowfin Tuna Crudo, featuring a bright colored kimchi puree. The Sweet Corn Soup was one of our favorite dishes of the evening. Roasted bell peppers, cucumber, red onions, and grilled shrimp soak in sweet coconut milk. It’s the perfect mix of grilled savory flavors and sweetness. This led to the Smoked Wagyu, the heartiest part of our meal. Not only does the menu build nicely to this dish, we were able to smell the beef grilling all evening. The slices of brisket lie on a bed of sliced aji peppers and red potatoes, and topped with BBQ sauce. While we chose to go with the beef, you also have the option of Grouper with Asian long beans, garlic, lime, and oregano. There's also a vegetarian option of Summer Vegetable Succotash that we were able to sample. It features a mix of butternut squash, sweet potato, peas, onion, squash, and eggplant.

The Peaches and Shortbread offered a sweet end to our evening.

Our dinner ended with the Peaches and Shortbread, featuring homemade ginger beer ice cream, shortbread, and mangos. Both fruits hail from Fredericksburg and made for a delicious pairing.

The bartender is a man of many hats.

Eden East creates the perfect supper club atmosphere with communal seating under a giant oak tree, outfitted with glowing chandeliers. It was a beautiful evening worth repeating monthly.
