European Classics in a Gastropub Setting at Hopfields

Hopfields, a gastropub located near the UT Campus features French-inspired cuisine and many craft beers on tap. Don’t let Hopfields’ proximity to the University of Texas lead you to believe it’s geared towards college students. Both the food and the ambiance within the restaurant cater to a more mature crowd.

The restaurant itself has a few small nooks which house tables for diners. The front bar (located off of Guadalupe Rd) is open seating with mostly communal spaces. While there is no table service in the bar area, the bartenders are quick to take your order and the food is delivered to your table equally as fast.

We went last Friday for a drink and an early dinner and were very impressed with the beer list, the food and the service! The beer list is rather large and features a handful of local favorites. If you can’t find a drink menu nearby, just take a glance at the wall opposite the bar to see the on tap beers displayed in a quirky fashion.

We started with the Olives & Nuts and then shared both the Moules Frites and the Pascal Burger. Everything was fantastic but the standout of the meal was the Moules Frites dish. The portion was large, the chili flakes in the sauce gave the mussels a great little kick and the frites were perfectly crisped.

Olives & Nuts - castelvetrano, rosemary & cayenne almonds

Moules Frites - PEI mussels, white wine, shallots, chili flake, garlic, aioli

Pascal Burger - camembert, cornichon, whole grain mustard, carmelized onions

Hopfields is open daily from 11am until midnight and features a delicious looking brunch everyday of the week.
