Some things just belong together: peanut butter and jelly, salt and pepper, biscuits and gravy- and of course, wine and cheese. At Cru Wine Bar, you can indulge in a diverse selection of wine and delicious bites, including a wide array of cheeses!

On my most recent visit with a girl friend, we decided to try two of Cru's wine flights. Pictured below are the Bubble Trouble and the Staff Picks. Each flight comes with 3 glasses and a small informational card that will tell you everything you need to know about the wine, where it's from, what it pairs well with, and additional tasting notes.

To go with our wine, we ordered the Great American Artisan Cheese board, which comes with rustic bread (so good), apples, pears, fig spread, grapes, and these cheeses:
- Humboldt Fog, Cypress Grove, CA
goat’s milk + creamy + luscious + ribbon of ash through the center
- Coupole, Vermont Creamery, VT
aged goat’s milk + mild dense center fresh milk taste
- Laura Chenel’s Chevre, Sonoma, CA
soft goat’s milk + fresh creamy cheese

There are also 3 other cheese boards available for purchase, depending on which types of cheeses you're in the mood for. All of the 4 cheese boards are priced at $16.

Continuing on our journey de cheese, we ordered the Fig and Gorgonzola Bruschetta- a rich treat drizzled with a thick balsamic reduction.

In order to avoid feeling guilty, we ordered the happy hour special: brussels sprouts. A girl's gotta get her veggies, and this dish is a great way to do just that! It was $5 with happy hour pricing, and a perfect amount for 2 people to share.

The smell of Cru's stone fired pizzas eventually got the best of us, so we ordered the Roasted Wild Mushroom Pizza ($15), made with chanterelle mushrooms, fontina cheese, pesto, and drizzled with white truffle oil. Don't let the picture below deceive you, this pizza is definitely large enough for 3 people to share.

If you thought that by this point we would've had our fill of cheese, you're wrong. We couldn't leave without trying the Goat Cheese Beignets! For $9, you get three of these little heavenly bites, which are basically like goat cheese stuffed donuts drizzled with honey. So perfect!

Both the 2nd Street location and the Domain locations are perfect for sitting outside and people watching. But if you end up at Cru on a drizzly night, like I did, snuggling up at a table inside with wine and plates of food to share is just as great.
