Quality Seafood Market has been in business under different names and in different locations since 1938. Now in 2015, the part-market, part-restaurant is located off of Airport Blvd and serves up some of Austin’s freshest and most delicious seafood. Upon stepping into Quality Seafood Market, you feel like you’ve been transported to a coastal getaway. There’s an island themed restaurant and bar to the right and a market to the left. The market boasts a whole wall of coolers with this week’s catches – tuna, drum, scallops, trout and more! If you don’t plan on dining at the restaurant, the market area has bottles of wine for sale and all of the spices and fixings you would need to make a great meal at home.

The restaurant is open from 10:30am – 9:00pm and features different dinner specials each night. It’s an order at the counter and they bring it to you at the table kind of place. Be sure to get there early for dinner because like most places in Austin, the line to order can be very long. The menu is rather large and there are a lot of different combinations to choose from.

On our visit, we decided to have a little bit of a feast and ordered a dozen oysters, fried calamari, a blackened shrimp taco, a grilled mahi mahi taco and the special of the night, the grilled ruby red trout with an olive tapenade. The dinner special came with hush puppies and two sides so we were also able to try the green beans and french fries. Everything we ordered was delicious and tasted fresh from the water.
