With the dog days of summer upon us, setting out for a frozen treat is the next best thing to jumping in a pool or the lake. And that’s exactly what we did when we visited South First Food Court last weekend.

The best part about visiting a food trailer park is that you can enjoy a sampling of items. We started off our post-lunch visit at SnoLabs, described as an artisanal snow shavery. I would say this unique treat is a cross between ice cream and a snow cone. For $5.50-$7, you can enjoy a HUGE portion of frozen goodness that includes your “sno” base, plus two toppings and a drizzle.

Sno flavors include original, green tea, blueberry, strawberry, and coconut (which is vegan and gluten free). Toppings range from chunks of fruit like banana or strawberry, to more decadent items like oreo, brownie bites, or sprinkles. For a drizzle, you can choose between condensed milk, chocolate or caramel. Despite the generous serving size, our SnoLab treat was both light and refreshing.

I’m so glad we shared our “sno” because that left room for us to try a frozen banana from Bananarchy. I kid you not when I say this is one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time, and I’m not even a huge lover of bananas. Starting at just $2.75, you can either build your own frozen banana treat or choose from their specialty flavors. This includes both a dip (chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter) and a topping.

On our visit, I opted for a half but still generous sized banana dipped in chocolate and rolled in Oreo crumbles. The texture was perfect, and the banana is served playfully on a plastic spoon. I can’t wait to go back to try one of the specialty flavors like the Afternoon Delight  - all 3 dips swirled together and topped with nuts and graham cracker crumbs. Fans of Arrested Development would appreciate the Gob – a double frozen banana dipped in chocolate with extra nuts.

Next time you’re looking to get out of the house and still beat the heat, head over to South First Food Court for one of these unique frozen treats!
