Gelateria Gemelli - Get in my Belly

Gelateria Gemelli recently opened in the Corazon building on E. 6th, and it has quickly secured the title of “favorite dessert spot” in my mind. This charming, dimly lit parlor offers small batches of gelato made with organic ingredients in order to ensure the best possible quality.

Interior of Gelateria Gemelli in East Austin

The owners (both geminis, or gemelli in Italian) studied the art of gelato-making in Bologna and learned that it is best washed down with a negroni on the rocks or an amaro straight up. Lucky for us, that means this charming gelateria also serves cocktails (and specialty coffees), making it a great place to hang out after dinner.

We’re sort of gelato purists, so on our visit we tried some of the simpler flavors. For just $4 you’ll get two generous scoops.

Madagascar Vanilla & Salted Caramel

Vietnamese Coffee & Valrhona Chocolate

This gelato is the creamiest I’ve ever tried and so rich in flavor.  For more adventurous gelato eaters, you can try flavors like Earl Gray, Basil or Cardamom Orange. They also offer sorbetto in Lemon Thyme and Strawberry for the fruit lovers.

The shop stays open till 10pm during the week and midnight on the weekends. With the warm weather fast approaching, you’ll definitely want to keep Gelateria Gemelli in your cold treats rotation.
