It’s an old joke by now that hipsters are critical of how local their food is - going so far as to meet the farmers themselves. Apanas Coffee & Beer takes that seriously with their mission to bring coffee drinkers and coffee growers closer together. Perfect for Austin. They buy coffee beans that have been hand picked by farmers they consider partners. What this means is exceptional coffee for you.

Bring your pup and lounge on the patio.

Apanas’ main focus is quality coffee drinks, but you can still nosh on bites from some of Austin’s finest purveyors. If you stop in early enough, you can snag a breakfast taco from Tyson’s Tacos. Craving something heartier for the afternoon? The menu features sandwiches from Fricano’s Deli. And of course, any time of day is perfect for a pastry from Quack’s 43rd Street Bakery. Other snacks on the menu include hummus and pita, a soft pretzel with spicy mustard, and a meat and cheese platter.

Expect beautiful latte art to accompany your treats.

The shop includes beer in its name for a reason. You’ll find 6 taps of craft beer on hand as well as bottled selections. Aside from the those two beverages, you’ll also find some fresh squeezed juices. Might as well try the Rock Rose Cure made with apple, carrot, beets, ginger, and celery.

Coming full circle, the shop partners with Farmers to 40 to ensure that a fixed percentage of what they pay for coffee goes back to the farmers. You can sip soundly.

Grab a brew, stay a while.

This isn’t necessarily a bookworm’s coffee shop. During our late afternoon visit, lively conversation filled the packed shop. It might not be the best place if you’re looking to get some work done but absolutely perfect for a group gab fest. There’s plenty of seating with small tables that you can reposition and combine to accommodate larger parties. Obviously there’s free wifi but Apanas really pleases with the number of outlets you’ll find.

Plenty of outdoor light fills the restaurant.

Stop into Apanas Coffee & Beer for your next happy hour!
