Both locations of The Grove offer tons of charm and delicious food, but we had a particularly great dinner last weekend at the Lakeway location. Though you might feel like you’re trekking out to the suburbs, the restaurant offers a bit of an upscale vibe with beautiful views of the hills. We were willing to wait a little bit for an outdoor table on this perfect spring night.

We started off our meal with an order of the bruschetta. The Grove offers a variety of flavors that you can mix and match. It’s the perfect way to whet your appetite before an Italian feast. I had a really hard time choosing a favorite among the three we chose:

  • Sausage, roasted peppers and goat cheese
  • Avocado-bacon aioli, roasted tomato, arugula and balsamic
  • Roasted portabello mushrooms, cippolini onions and smoked gouda

Before diving into our meals, we also enjoyed sides of the Caesar and Reed’s salad (mixed field greens with caramelized pecans, feta and honey balsamic vinaigrette).

For dinner we had a sampling of hearty Italian dishes, including Spaghetti & Meatballs with “mama’s secret recipe” and Spaghetti Bolognese with slow simmered veal and pork ragu, tomatoes, and a touch of cream (my husband staunchly believes this is the best in town!). We also couldn’t resist ordering one of the pizzas that the Grove is known for. We selected the Mediterranean pizza with basil pesto, artichoke hearts, spinach, grape tomatoes, Kalamata olives, feta and mozzarella and were pleased to bring home the leftovers!

Whether you’re looking for an outdoor spot to sip a glass of wine or a special date night atmosphere for the weekend, take a trip out to the Grove in Lakeway for great views and delicious food.
