NOTE: Postponed to Saturday, December 13

Home Slice, the independent neighborhood pizza joint serving authentic New York-style pizza, is hosting its ninth annual Carnival O’ Pizza on Saturday, November 22 from noon to 7 p.m. at 1415 South Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas. The event is free and open to all ages.

The Carnival O’ Pizza is an annual celebration of Home Slice’s love for all things pizza. It's held each year in conjunction with the restaurant’s anniversary while also serving as a special thank you to customers, fans, friends, and neighbors.

This year's event will feature awe-inspiring entertainment—including traditional carnival-inspired games and booths, music, dancing, photo booths, raffles, and more—plus the following contests:

Hands on an Eggplant Sub (a.k.a. H.O.E.S) – It’s like a walk-a-thon, but messier. H.O.E.S contestants place a hand on a Home Slice eggplant sub and hold it there as long as they can. The last one standing wins. Contestants can raise money online for Austin Bat Cave by seeking sponsorship from their network of friends and family.

Pizza Eating – This contest is simple: get ten people together and see who can eat the most pizza in thirty minutes. Past bouts have ended in a controversial photo finish and judges weighing contestants’ pizza remnants to determine a winner.

Dough Throwing – A double-dog dare to all genuine hand-tossing pizza joints across Texas and beyond to compete for the fastest stretch and largest dough.
Pizza Box Folding – Contestants try to beat the clock by folding as many pizza boxes as possible.

Individuals or companies interested in participating in Carnival O’ Pizza as a contestant or a sponsor, or to donate to the raffle, contact terri@homeslicepizza.com for more information. Additional details about contest and raffle prizes will be announced at a later date. Home Slice relies on its Pie Club, a large pool of homegrown volunteers, to staff its events. Interested volunteers should contact pieclub@homeslicepizza.com.

For the fourth consecutive year, all proceeds from the event will benefit Austin Bat Cave. In the last eight years, the Carnival O’ Pizza has raised more than $110,000 for local participating charities, including over $60,000 for Austin Bat Cave.

Home Slice and More Home Slice will maintain regular hours of operation during the event.
