Juliet Ristorante is a brand new addition to bustling Barton Springs Avenue. Formerly home to a short-lived pizza joint, Juliet is here to stay. The building got a facelift with a fresh coat of white paint and chic black and white striped awnings. Fresh landscaping trims the side and back patio where you’ll find an outdoor bar and plenty of seating, with misters. Inside you’ll find plenty of mid-century touches from the gold light fixtures and accents to the marble and wood bar.

The decor isn’t the only thing that shines. They offer a robust dinner and bar menu, with plans to introduce a lunch menu soon. We stopped by opening week for happy hour. Luckily, they embrace the leisurely Italian mindset and offer a lengthy happy hour from 3:00-7:00pm - something I’ll never complain about. The skilled bartenders can whip up anything, but we ordered off the classic cocktail menu, opting for the Italian Mule and the Italian 75.

In addition to drink specials they offer specials on a variety of antipasta (crudo, carpaccio, and fried ceci beans) and their house-made pizzas. We ordered the salmon crudo, fried ceci beans, and a meat and cheese plate. The salmon crudo was light, fresh, and perfectly seasoned.

Their in-house pizza, pasta, and bread are a big draw too. During happy hour you can get some of their signature pizzas for $6. What’s also refreshing is they serve full sized dinner portions instead of following the small plate trend. I am definitely coming back for the Meyer Lemon Rissoto and the Spaghetti Carbonara. You can also choose from entrees such as seared snapper and grilled beef tenderloin.

Another perk is the extensive dessert menu. As you’d expect, they serve Italian classics such as gelato and tiramisu but they also have noteworthy options including olive oil cake and chocolate ganache tarts.

This summer I foresee myself spending many evenings on Juliet’s patio enjoying a glass of rose and pizza. cin cin!
