As we mentioned before hereLaunderette, housed in a converted laundromat, was created by Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki, previously chefs at Sway and La Condesa. The neighborhood restaurant serves Mediterranean inspired dishes with an emphasis on sharing. When they opened with dinner service back in May, it was such a hit. Great reviews, including ours, were everywhere, and everyone agreed that Launderette was delish and refined. So when they recently launched a weekday lunch service, we couldn't wait to see what they had in store.

The lunch menu was larger than we expected, and it was a pleasant surprise! From light dishes like Salad Nicoise and Halibut, to heartier meals like their Croque Monsieur or Plancha Burger, Launderette's menu has a wide variety of flavors and heft. Aside from the food, the vibe at Launderette is so lovely. Just take a peek below- the minimalist table with flower arrangement and simply printed menu is so refined yet casual.

We started off with the Fried Olives, made with cumin sausage, aleppo, and an anchovy aioli. It's a great appetizer for sharing and packs plenty of punch. Other great options for sharing include Hummus and Salt Cod Croquettes. While the appetizer menu isn't the healthiest we've ever seen, the flavors and presentation are really beautiful and delicate.


Fried Olives

Moving on to lunch entrees, on this visit we tried the Fried Fish Sammie, the Brick Chicken, and the PEI Mussels, with a side of Roasted Cauliflower. The Fried Fish Sammie was bit of a hassle to eat, but the fish was really flaky and tasty. It comes with a fennel bulb slaw, tomato, Old Bay aioli, and a challah bun. Though the fish was great, the bun might've been the star of the dish here. The Brick Chicken, served with a tasty sourdough panzanella, could easily double as a dinner entree. It's enough for two to share, or to keep for leftovers. The chicken was moist and perfect- definitely a great dish. The PEI Mussels didn't disappoint either. Cooked with Serrano ham, green chile butter, Spanish olives, and served with grilled sourdough, this dish definitely lives up to the Mediterranean vibe of the restaurant. The broth alone was so delish that we were tempted to ask for more bread. We highly recommend the mussels! The Roasted Cauliflower side dish was unique and tasty - it comes with pickled pear, fresno chiles, sunchokes, and a mustard vinaigrette. This is one of those dishes that would be impossible to recreate at home, and fully worth ordering at the restaurant. We loved the creativity and layers of flavors in this.

Now that the summer heat has died down and we're dropping into lower temps, Launderette's patio is more appealing than ever. It's still warm enough to sit outside, and there are even fluffy and clean pillows and blankets, making your visit cozier than ever. And the marble table tops are to die for. So chic. On the side of the restaurant, you'll find a lounge patio with chairs and even a chiminea. It's a great place to wait for a table or just sip on cocktails.

Launderette might be one of the most welcoming restaurants in town, and we love that there are multiple areas to dine and drink- you have your choice of the outdoor lounge patio, the outdoor tables, the indoor tables, or the bar. We love having our pick, and we love Launderette.
