Family friendly spots are hard to come by in this town. The addition of the The Local Post Pub on Burnet Road is a great new option for large groups and families. But once the night rolls around, the fun is 21+.

All roads lead here.

The restaurant is spacious with an abundance of seating and a huge patio. You'll find board games on most tables, arcades toward the back, and some yard games outside to keep you entertained. We visited for a rather quiet lunch, but weekends and evenings are sure to be rowdy.

The design is modern with so many wood elements you can smell it. Wood panels cover the walls and ceiling and even the light fixtures are made from wood.

This sports bar took over a space that used to be one of North Austin's most infamous night clubs. Probably owing to its former life, there are 3 full service bars so you're never too far from a refreshment. If you're looking for drinks, happy hour is on weekdays from 4-7pm with daily drink specials.

We kicked off lunch with an order of the Lemon Garlic Hummus.

As you may expect, the menu has plenty of shareable plates as well as hearty sandwiches and burgers. On our visit we tried the Chicken Sandwich, a classic updated with a delicious pretzel bun, and the Turkey Club Wrap (a spinach tortilla stuffed with avocado, swiss cheese, bacon, and chipotle aioli).

Large groups will definitely need to share an order of their 10lb can specialty nachos. On our next visit, we’ll need to snag the Texas Stack (topped with pulled pork, caramelized onions, monterrey jack cheese, jalapeños, and sour cream). Another tempting specialty on their menu is the chimichanga. Some of the options include the Tex-Mex (featuring smoked brisket, pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, and topped with roasted tomatillo cream sauce) and the Mexicano (stuffed with picadillo, roasted corn, sauteed peppers, mixed cheese, queso fresco, and topped with a creamy chipotle sauce).
