Music, Mimosas, and Munchies at Trace

Trace at the W has recently become my favorite brunch spot in town. First off, they accept reservations so you won’t have to fight the crowds like at some other popular brunch restaurants.  They have a beautiful and spacious patio where you can relax on comfy couches under big, shady trees or people-watch from high-top tables.  As if that wasn’t enough, they also offer music for both Saturday and Sunday brunch (Saturday a funk/soul DJ and Sunday live jazz).

Let’s face it, brunch is all about the booze.  You can stick with a traditional Bloody Mary or mimosa, or try mixing your champagne with one of their fresh squeezed juices.  Our group really enjoyed the watermelon agua fresca. And bonus – your first mimosa is free!

Some of the menu items we enjoyed:

Lavaca omelet with smoked brisket, red salsa, sour cream, avocado, cojita cheese and green salad

B.E.L.T. sandwich with crispy bacon, fried egg, bibb lettuce, aioli, gruyere cheese, and toasted brioche

Farmer’s breakfast with two eggs any style, potatoes, sausage, bacon, and brioche toast

We’re looking forward to going back to try their decadent croque madame or chorizo verde and eggs.

If your weekend brunch is like ours, it might turn into an all-day affair.  Starting at 3pm, Trace offers a selection of small nibbles like pork tostadas or brisket sliders, and a happy hour menu of $7 cocktails, wines by the glass, or 25% off bottles.  Give it a try for your next boozy brunch or Sunday Funday!
