With a casual dining room and a lively bar area, The League is the perfect spot to enjoy a family meal or cheer on your favorite team. Located in Lakeway, in a strip center off of Highway 620 (near Santa Catarina), The League still has that friendly neighborhood vibe that makes you feel right at home.

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon which meant we could choose from both the regular and brunch menu. We were in the mood for sandwiches, but it didn't mean we weren't going to take advantage of $3 Mimosas (Bloody Marys were also available for the same price).

Had we been in the mood for breakfast, I definitely would have had my eye on the Breakfast Pot Pie made with breakfast sausage, jalapeno gravy, bacon, spinach, potatoes, biscuit, cheddar, and a fried egg. (Even just typing this out is making me rethink my order!) The Pork Belly Hash would have been a close second.

Instead, we opted for lunch items including the Grown Up Grilled Cheese, made with sourdough bread and a heavenly combo of sharp cheddar, American cheese, and muenster with a cup of Tomato Basil Soup on the side. The soup didn't wow me on its own, but it was the perfect accompaniment for dipping my sandwich (which I devoured).

The Grown Up Grilled Cheese offered a delicious mix of cheeses atop sourdough bread

Since you can't go to a tavern and not order a burger, we ordered the Society Burger, one of the simpler options with lettuce, tomato, onion, and horseradish pickle. The burgers come with fries and you have the option of adding a fried egg for $1.99, a popular choice among regulars.

The Society Burger is a "damn good burger" according to our table

We were seated near several regulars, and other highly recommended menu items were the Fish & Chips and Meatloaf Bites. The vibe and menu options reminded me of diners in the northeast. The desserts are even more over the top - with a Croissant Bread Pudding made with salted caramel and amaretto cream. I even heard rumors of Red Velvet Twinkies!

Casual dining with a prohibition-style vibe

The League also offers great happy hour specials including half-price select appetizers and drink discounts. Even more good news: They have a second location in Avery Ranch. Whether you're looking for a quiet family dinner in the casual dining room or a more lively atmosphere in the bar area, The League offers something for everyone.
