Austin has no shortage of great, healthy restaurants, but it's always exciting when a new option comes to town. Vinaigrette recently opened its doors in the former Treehouse location off of South Congress. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Open, bright, and colorful - you'll want to spend hours  just soaking in the cheerful atmosphere.

And let's not forget the patio. With its huge oak tree towering over cute, cozy tables, it's a perfect place to spend lunch with friends. Luckily, the restaurant and the patio are pretty huge, so hopefully you won't have a wait.

Who could resist a healthy lunch on this beautiful patio?

Vinaigrette describes itself as an elevated salad bar. They offer unique combinations of fresh, flavorful ingredients that will leave you feeling healthier after you leave! No more guilt-laden lunches or sluggish afternoons after enjoying one of their delicious yet hearty salads.

The menu features traditional options like Caesar or Greek, or you can choose more unique combos like the Cherry Tart (sweet dried cherries, crumbled feta, and chilied pecans with arugula and Swiss chard) or the Chop Chop (tomato, bell pepper, romaine, garbanzos, salami, roast chicken and provolone). You have the option to add proteins to your salad, which admittedly come at a steep price. However, with options like the Chop Chop or the Cobb, you can choose a salad that already contains meat. I opted for the Cobb on my visit, and it did not disappoint. Perfect dressing to salad ratio atop my romaine, tomatoes, avocado, hard boiled egg, bacon, roast chicken and crumbled bleu cheese for just $10.50.

If you're not a salad person, don't fret. They offer plenty of delicious sandwiches from which to choose. We sampled the Cuban Torta made with mustard-roasted pork shoulder, green chile ham, red onions, avocado, Swiss cheese, mayo, and sweet relish. We actually found it to be better than some we've had at Cuban restaurants in town! Plus it's a steal at $11.95 including a small salad.

As if all that wasn't reason enough, Vinaigrette also offers healthy bar snacks like Kale Fritters and Black Bean & Kale Nachos, along with unique drinks like Ginger Turmeric Tonic or the Purple Russian (purple cabbage, fennel and pineapple juice with lemon, vodka and Cynar). Although on our visit we opted for simple yet delicious lattes, I look forward to returning to sample the unique cocktails.

Choose from coffee, non-alcoholic beverages or cocktails with your meal

Next time you're looking for a healthy, relaxed lunch option, enjoy next-level salads and one of the best patios in town at Vinaigrette!
