With the opening of the Rock Rose district, North Austin is getting a much needed injection of exciting eateries and drinking spots. St. Genevieve is the district’s upscale cocktail lounge, giving new life to a shuttered Houston favorite.

The bar projects a cool blue image from the streetside.

The trendy design is one of the biggest draws to the bar. A large circular bar with sleek marble countertops sits in the center of the room. The space is open and airy with a mix of large communal tables and small intimate sets, offering plenty of seating. The blue and white color scheme unites the design’s eclectic mix of Mediterranean elements. Whether you're looking for a classy group happy hour or a romantic date night spot, St. Genevieve is a great option.

Pull up to the bar for expertly crafted cocktails.

We started our visit with a round of cocktails: a Cobbler Old-Fashioned (the house’s version made with peach bitters, brown sugar, muddled peach, and a peach garnish) and the sweet Distinguished Gentleman (a scotch drink with amaretto, lemon juice, simple syrup, and apricot preserve). A number of specialty cocktails, like the signature I Dream of Genevieve (a gin based drink with rose water and elderflower), fill out the menu along with a selection of beer and wine.

The flatbreads are a great option for a substantial shareable plate.

Right on trend, the bar also offers a tapas-style menu of Mediterranean influenced bites. You’ll find an eclectic mix of shareable plates labeled as Conversation Starters as well as salads, flatbreads, and sweets.

Try an order of the ever popular brussels sprouts.

We hit the bar with an appetite and put in orders for the Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Curried Chicken Samosas (served on a bed of black lentils with jalapeño, cheese, and cilantro cream), and the Italian Sausage flatbread.

Our favorite dish of the night was the Curried Chicken Samosas.

St. Genevieve gets really playful with their dessert menu, putting a grown-up spin on childhood favorites. The Adult Milk & Cookies features a spiked milk while the Table S'mores lets you bring the campfire treat indoors.

Sunday brunch is also served with $20 bottles of champagne and mimosa mixers.

Make a pilgrimage to Rock Rose's patron saint today!
