Who would have thought that the last Saturday before Christmas would be a warm and beautiful 65 degrees? In search of outdoor dining options, we headed over to East Austin and stumbled upon patio gold - Stay Gold, to be exact. This dimly lit bar not only offers delicious cocktails but has a cozy patio complete with Toaster food trailer.

Stay Gold offers happy hour specials on Saturday during the day, including $2 mimosas and the "big ass" Bloody Mary made to order. They also have a variety of seasonal cocktails, from which I chose the Winterfell, made with champagne, St. Germain, and house-made pear ginger syrup - the perfect blend of winter goodness for day drinking.

Just outside the dark bar might just be my new favorite patio spot. They've managed to turn a shipping container into a chic lounge with cozy seating for groups. Plus, Toaster trailer is serving up some of the most delicious food truck grub I've had in a while.

Toaster offers a variety of snack and lunch options, along with a brunch menu on the weekends. We couldn't resist a sampling of both. The Tomato Soup Grilled Cheese is one of their most popular items, made with mozzarella, muenster, and swiss, plus a sundried tomato soup actually inside a sandwich. Talk about a feel-good meal. The Scotch Egg is another crowd favorite - a boiled egg wrapped in sausage and then fried, and topped with spicy sour cream and avocado. At just $5, we couldn't resist trying the baked mac and cheese which definitely had a kick but did not disappoint.

From the brunch menu, we selected the PB&J French Toast topped with bananas foster. Whether you enjoy this meal as breakfast or dessert, it's hearty, decadent, and memorable.

Austin has no shortage of great patios, but it was fun to find one a little off the beaten path. For your next patio outing, hit up Stay Gold in East Austin for drinks, and Toaster for delicious food truck fare.
