Tiny Pies, Big Taste

Austin's favorite miniature bakeshop has opened another location here in town, this one on South Lamar in the space formerly occupied by Lick (which moved downtown a few months ago). Tiny Pies sells hand-held versions of pies- they're adorable and perfect for dessert for your family, a picnic, or basically any celebration! Kit, the owner of Tiny Pies, opened the shop after making bite-size pies for her kids' lunchboxes. Kit grew up baking pies regularly with her mother, and she wanted to find a way to make these personal pie creations available to everyone - thus Tiny Pies was born.

The menu at Tiny Pies offers a great variety; savory and sweet, breakfast or dessert, and also includes international flavors. If you're looking for tiny pies for breakfast, check out the homemade pop tarts, the quiche pies, or the cinnamon twirls. For desserts, you'll love the fruit and chocolate pies. These pies taste great cold or warm, and keep very well over a period of a few days. Tiny Pies uses produce from local farms, like honey from Good Flow Honey, eggs from Vital Farms, pears from Itz Garden, various produce from Johnson's Backyard Garden, blueberries from the East Texas Blueberry Coop, and more.

Check out some of the deliciousness in the case from our recent visit. You'll see tarts, empanadas, and various savory and sweet quiches. Most items are priced between $3-4.50, which makes it affordable to stock up on a variety of items. That means you can scoop up a box of treats for your kids, husband, coworkers, or potluck dinner, and it won't put much of a dent in your wallet!

Tiny Pies also delivers, and their boxes are adorable! Tiny Pies make a great gift for a birthday, baby shower, or just a random pick-me-up. Note that they are currently only shipping within Texas and local pick up or delivery is only in the Austin area (delivery fee based on zip code). If you're unable to pop into a Tiny Pies store, you can also find them at Royal Blue Grocery, Fresh Plus, in.gredients, and Central Market.
