With the holiday season upon us, you might be expecting out of town visitors in the coming weeks and the last thing you need is the stress of meal-planning. The good news is we're here to help! We've compiled some of our favorite spots that are sure to impress your guests and make them love Austin as much as we do.

When most people visit, they have two things on their mind - Mexican food and BBQ. My go-to is Fonda San Miguel for classy interior Mexican food. For more standard Tex Mex, Polvos is a crowd-pleaser. If you're looking to show your guests that there is more to Mexican food than quesadillas and enchiladas, why not try out El Alma or Alcomar? While we're on the subject of Mexican food, I love to take guests for breakfast tacos at TacoDeli. You can't beat the quality or the price - plus you can walk off your meal at the nearby greenbelt!

For BBQ, you might choose to dedicate an entire day to stand in line for Franklin's. Bring along some chairs and a cooler of beer, and it can be quite a memorable experience. But if your schedule is already too full, perhaps consider a nicer meal at Lambert's. Many out of towners wouldn't realize that barbecue can be upscale!

Perhaps your visitors are more in the mood for some southern comfort food. Consider Moonshine or Lucy's Fried Chicken for some down home cooking.

Once your guests have had their fill of these must haves, it's time to think outside the box. Uchi, Uchiko, and Ramen Tatsu-ya have all received national acclaim and would leave a lasting impression. We also love to take visitors to Easy Tiger or ABGB for daytime brews and entertainment. While Austin isn't necessarily known for its pizza, we locals know that we have some pretty strong contenders. After a heavy day of eating, why not grab a slice at Home Slice or the Backspace?

As if your head isn't already spinning with possibilities, don't forget about our city's plethora of food trucks. You can make an entire day of it sampling items from one trailer to the next, while taking in the city sights in between.

Here's to a stress-free and delicious holiday season!
