Fresh, quick and healthy are the three words that describe Mad Greens perfectly. Mad Greens started over 10 years ago in Colorado and has since expanded to Arizona and now, Austin, Texas. Located in the new Rock Rose development in the Domain, this fast-casual restaurant is sure to be a big hit with the lunch crowd in the area.

The bright and open environment and smiling faces behind the counter welcome you as you walk in. The menu is displayed electronically above the order counter but you can also grab a printed version to peruse as you wait to order. You place your order at the right side of the counter and work your way down the line as the friendly Mad Greens employee builds out your perfect salad.

You can choose from one of their already carefully thought out salad options or build your own from the plethora of fresh ingredients available. Mad Greens also has paninis, wraps, soups and juices to choose from. Their menu options all come with creative names such as the Bonnie Parker (a Texas-inspired salad), the Bollywood and the Mark Twain, to name a few. They make 20+ house dressings from scratch on a daily basis.

The Siam I Am caught my eye as soon as I walked in. It might help that it’s the first menu option, but the mixture of warm quinoa, chicken, kale, peanuts, green onions, edamame and spinach with a ginger soy dressing was too good to pass up! To me, this was the perfect salad with just the right amount of crunch and ingredients.

Another great thing about Mad Greens is that they offer seasonal menu options. You can find out what’s available ahead of time by checking their well-managed social media sites. Pictured below is the Eva Peron, with plancha style vegetables, cotija cheese and citrus chicken, all locally sourced.

We also tried the Bright Buzz juice, which is made to order and brought to your table when ready. The Bright Buzz is a mixture of apple, banana, bee pollen, carrot, pineapple and lime. A little bit sweet and a little bit tangy and left us feeling happy with the choices we made.
