Beer and Bites at The Ginger Man

If you’re a beer lover, The Ginger Man is the spot for you.  WIth seven locations across the state (plus three in the Northeast), the The Ginger Man has everything a great pub needs: character, friendly staff, and most importantly—lots and lots of beer. For our beer drinking pleasure, we decided to stop in at the Lakewood location to check out their cozy two-story pub.

With so many beers on draught, you're guaranteed to find something right for you. Not sure where to start? Ask one of the friendly, knowledgable bartenders for a recommendation.

The Texas, Belgian and European flights are a good way to try a few different beers--seasonal varieties and others from around the globe.

The 100+ beers and comfortable atmosphere are certainly the draw here, but we also enjoy their grub. The menu isn’t too extensive, which is nice, making it easy to choose from one of their snacks, solids or flatbreads.

While we’re typically fans of the pesto and roasted chicken flatbread, this time we tried the Dogfish Head bratwurst and ale onion. A perfect pie to share with friends, this brat-topped treat also has a olive oil brushed crust that tastes like a buttery delight.

Meat, cheese and melt in your mouth crust. What more do you need?

Another first try on this visit was the French dip—a satisfying sandwich with tender roast beef, gouda and onions and served with a delicious au jus sauce. You also get your choice of chips, and we’re partial to the salt and vinegar.

No need for sharing--we think you can handle the French dip all by yourself.

End your visit on a sweet note: try a float with vanilla ice cream and your choice of root beer or any beer from their menu.

While the food options pair perfectly with beer, we know most first-time patrons are going to visit just for a pint, and you can get those $1 off from 3-6 pm.

Parking typically isn’t an issue, but spots next to and around The Ginger Man in Lakewood may fill up quickly. We’d suggest taking the scenic route and walking the historic streets of Junius Heights on your journey to imbibing. Once there, feel free to move about this two-story pub with comfortable indoor seating downstairs, an upstairs lounge and a fantastic open-air balcony. A cozy pub away from home, we’re sure you’ll be back time and time again.
