When it comes to social drinking and dining in Dallas, a great menu and a spacious patio are really all you need. Eight Bells Alehouse, the newest project from the minds behind Ten Bells, promises that and more thanks to a great space in a laid-back location.

Located in popular Exposition Park, Eight Bells occupies a space that’s casual and unassuming in the best way. The exterior exudes a vintage charm, complete with an attached smoking porch, and the interior is reminiscent of a classic pub or speakeasy. Even better, the space boasts an additional backyard patio that offers plenty of room for relaxing outdoors on nice-weather days.

Eight Bells' classic pub-style interior is enhanced by a smoking porch in the front, and a spacious patio in the back.

The menu at Eight Bells really sets it apart from its predecessor, thanks to a varied offering of fresh plates featuring seafood as the focal point. Their dishes come in a variety of sizes, from larger plates perfect for enjoying as a full meal to smaller plates that make a delightful happy hour snack. But before you order food, start with a drink—whether you’re in the mood for a beer or a cocktail, Eight Bells has something to meet your needs.

Eight Bells offers a variety of beers that are perfect for drinking outside on their patio.

Because Eight Bells is an Alehouse, you certainly can’t go wrong with ordering a beer. They’re proud to serve a variety of rotating brews, and it’s likely that the selection will only grow with time. When the mood strikes for a frosty draught from the tap, Eight Bells is the place to be, and their servers are happy to make a recommendation if you just can’t make up your mind.

For a cocktail fix, try the Rosemary’s Baby, which features all the goodness of a Manhattan enhanced with a light rosemary wash. It’s a complex house cocktail that’s full of flavor and character, and it’s a great choice for sipping at any time.

Rosemary's Baby might sound like an intimidating name for a cocktail, but Eight Bells' twist on the Manhattan is worth a try.

When it comes to food, Eight Bells is an excellent place for grabbing a snack to go with your drink. The Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie plate is a classic choice anywhere, but their version is fully customizable, allowing you to pick and choose meats and cheeses until you create the perfect sampling. It’s a lovely choice for snacking or starting a meal, and it pairs nicely with practically any drink on the menu.

The Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie plate is the perfect size for sharing with a group of friends.

Although the menu of large plates is well worth a try at dinnertime, we especially recommend checking out Eight Bells during happy hour. They offer weekly drink specials, and their patio is the ideal place for sipping, snacking, and relaxing after a busy workday. Even though this spot is still fairly new, it’s already growing in popularity, so be sure to get there early if you’re with a group and looking to snag a good spot outside. Or, plan your visit during one of their weekly events—like Pub Quiz or Jazz Night—and take relaxation to the next level. No matter what, Eight Bells is the place to be when you want to kick back with drinks, friends, and delicious food.
