Sometimes there is nothing more satisfying than a great burger! Living in Texas, we gravitate towards those that have the flavors of the border and the romanticism of the Old West-thus you can find a good-ole Texas-tilted burger at most burger joints in the state. There is a common list of toppings that go on these burgers and you'll find them in different combinations-Chili, Onion Strings, Jalapeno or Poblano Peppers and BBQ Sauce. These are our five favorite burgers in DFW that have us saying "Yipee-Ki-Yay Cowboy!".

Cowboy Murrin at Rodeo Goat {Rodeo Goat Photo}

With a name like Rodeo Goat, you know you are going to find a burger fit for cowboys and cowgirls! This LocalSugar Fave in Fort Worth is a great place to sit on the patio and enjoy a Cowboy Murrin: applewood smoked bacon, tomato, jalapeno, fried onions, cheddar, pickle chutney, housemade bbq sauce. Try an order of Cheese Fries Surprise on the side (you'll love the surprise-trust us!).

Cowboy Burger at Dee Lincoln Steak and Burger Bar

Even though this Uptown spot is relatively new on the scene, Dee Lincoln (of Del Frisco fame) knows her beef. Dee Lincoln's Steak and Burger Bar is all about Texas traditions with a twist so saddle up and try the Cowboy Burger: crispy onion shavings, molasses glaze, pepper jack cheese. Order up some Cast Iron Chorizo Corn on the side for true campfire cuisine.

Terlingua Burger at Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Good ol' Texas Red in combination with a juicy burger is a favorite and one named after Terlingua-the state capital of chili- says it all! Hopdoddy Burger Bar offers a couple different burgers with a Texas tilt but we always go for the Terlingua : angus beef, chili con carne, corn Fritos, Tillamook cheddar, sassy sauce. Order some fries on the side and ask for their chipotle ketchup to give it a kick.

Big Tex at Twisted Root

Known for their juicy burgers and exotic game offerings when available like Elk and Kangaroo, Twisted Root Burger Co. offers tons of signature burgers. Besides The Western and The Ranch Hand we love Big Tex: cheddar cheese, fried onion strings, guacamole,chipotle sauce. Pair it with a locally-brewed beer or some of their Sweet Watermelon Tea.

Wild West at Liberty Burger

Liberty Burger's custom blend of brisket and chuck makes for some of the best burgers in town. You could go for the Napa-representing the West Coast, the South of the Burger-giving you the flavors of our friends south of the border or go for a burger with a taste of the Lone Star state-The Wild West: cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, pickles, onion, BBQ sauce. If you still have room, top it off with a personal pie-the Chocolate with Hand-Whipped Merigue is a fave!
