While they are rightfully known for their original craft beers — each brew so good that it’s almost impossible to not smile as you drink on the outdoor patio area during any sunny day — Deep Ellum Brewing Company is making new and impressive strides on the food side of their menu.

Namely, their food menu has expanded to include lunch, which is available Monday through Saturday after 11am. Their tagline is “Love Runs Deep.” That belief shows through strong with their execution of a legitimately high quality food menu. This is not a bar that just happened to throw some wings and nachos on their menu, hoping you’re too busy enjoying the booze to notice the bad food. No, Deep Ellum Brewing Company has taken the time and put in the culinary love to create plates that will have you rolling up your sleeves and digging happily into your tantalizing meal.

Bar and What’s On Tap

Meat & Cheese Board

The Meat & Cheese Board comes with four seasonal local proteins, four seasonal local cheeses, along with fruit, toasted bread and a little bit of greenery. This is what you call a smorgasbord of delicious proportions. While there is a "No Meat" & Cheese Board option, we strongly recommend lactose lovers shell out the few extra bucks for this epic appetizer.

Mango Avocado Salad With Shrimp

Salad with beer? That’s what we thought too when we first saw the Mango Avocado Salad With Shrimp. Boy, were we wrong though. This unusual combination proved powerful. Starting with a base of house spring mix, the chefs build things up with mango, seasonal fruits, feta cheese and avocado slices that are drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette. This formidable salad matches well with the lighter beers on tap, so don’t knock it until you try it.

Elote Tots

These are Elote Tots. These are tater tots. We repeat: these are tater tots. We are not kidding. Honestly, there are tater tots in the dish that’s picture above, you just can’t see them because they’re buried deliciously. Inspired by the Mexican street food favorite, these tater tots are mixed with corn and mayo, then piled high with parmesan, cayenne, chili powder, Cotija cheese and pulled pork.

Beer Flight

Here, you can always order up a glass of your favorite brew, but why choose only one? You can mix and match some of your favorites, along with some new explorations when you choose the Beer Flight. Our favorite beer from this particular visit? The Hatch Chile Stout, an oatmeal stout that’s surprisingly subtle as it is brewed with 200 pounds of hatch green chilies.

Deep Ellum Brewing Company has been making moves in 2016. Both the biggest beer snob and the casual weekend warrior will be happy sipping on the many in-house concoctions. From the Play Date Sour Blonde Ale to the Hatch Chile Stout, there is a rich tapestry of flavors on tap.

Now with these wonderful updates to the food menu in 2016, you shouldn’t just come thirsty, you should also bring your appetite when you visit Deep Ellum Brewing Company.
