Over one hundred years ago, a man named Luigi Leone opened up one of the few pizza shops in Naples, Italy.  Luigi perfected secret family recipes, establishing a foundation for delightful Neapolitan style pizzas and more. Luckily for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, his great grandson, Olivella, decided to master the art and brought DFW the delicious and thriving Olivella’s.

What makes the food so special? Let's start with their fresh approach. Everything is made in house -- even their mozzarella cheese. The tomatoes are imported directly from Italy, as is their olive oil. The pizza is handcrafted from those protected family recipes. Even the flour mixture is a secret no one will share.

The atmosphere is a combination of classy and rustic -- the perfect place for everything from a quiet date to a large family gathering. The smell of flour and wine fills your senses as you sit and prepare for an authentic Italian meal.

Some Olivella's locations offer a full bar, and some offer beer and wine only. But their housemade sangria is available at all locations and is a satisfying accompaniment to the menu offerings.

Take a seat at the bar in this Fort Worth location.

Start with the popular sushi parma. Housemade mozzarella is neatly wrapped in prosciutto and makes for a great sharing appetizer. Heartier options vary a bit between the locations, but think momma's homemade meatballs and pizza rolls. There are plenty of enticing salad options as well.

Though there are many selections on the menu, pizza is always a winner, especially if you are a first-timer. If you can’t decide on just one, order a metro. The chefs are happy to prepare a half and half creation. During their business lunch hour, half pizzas are available. On busier nights, carry out is a convenient option.

Olivella’s is one of the only restaurants in the country to serve both Northern and Southern style pizza. You’re able to order either Neapolitan (also known as “regular” thin crust) or Roman style (“metro” or super thin crust).

No LocalSugar meal is complete without dessert, and the sweet treats here do not disappoint. The classic tiramisu is a fail-proof selection, but you will be choosing from unique options like a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich or chocolate salami. Bottom line? Save room!

Olivella's also has a food truck available to book for events, so consider treating your pals to a taste of Italy at your next party. Though we have many pizza options in DFW, Olivella's is not one to be missed. USA TODAY once declared it the "Best Pizza in Texas," and you won't be surprised once you've enjoyed a meal at any location.
