LUCK (Local Urban Craft Kitchen), one of the most recent additions to the Trinity Groves District, serves local beers and locally sourced cuisine in a casual setting. Their mission is to promote the craft beer industry by designing dishes that not only pair well with beer but that also use beer as an ingredient. We love the large covered patio and the view of the twinkling lights on the trees that all of the eateries on this side of the Trinity Groves complex is treated to. The inside is industrial chic and comfortable whether you want a cozy booth for two or a large table for a group.

LUCK boasts approximately 40 beers on tap and shows them off on their "Big Wall of Beers". As mentioned, the beers are all high quality local offerings and are priced at $5.

Tortilla Encrusted Shrimp with Arbil Chili Aoli

Beirocks (Beer Rocks)

The kitchen has not published a menu as they are still working through the items they want to keep. It will be a seasonal menu so what you see today may not be there tomorrow. We started with two appetizers-the Tortilla Crusted Fried Shrimp with Arbil Chili Aoli and the Beirocks, which was our favorite of the two. The Beirocks (Beer Rocks) are meat and cheese filled pocket pastries served with a Beer Cheese Fondue and an Au Jus. They came out piping hot and were delicious-especially with the Au Jus.

Pork Schnitzel with Spaetzel and Cabbage

Smoked Chicken with Chipotle Potato Salad

There are lots of great entrees to choose from but we decided on the Pork Schnitzel with Braised Red Cabbage, Herbed Spaetzel and Brown Butter Ale Sauce and the Smoked Chicken with Chipotle Potato Salad and Apple Cider Vinaigrette Cole Slaw. Both were flavorful and cooked perfectly.

Chocolate Porter Brownie

Apple Fritter Funnel Cake

Even the desserts at LUCK have beer infused in some form. We LOVED the Chocolate Porter Brownie-moist, chocolate-y and delicious! The Apple Fritter Funnel Cake was beer battered and really did taste like a mix between a fritter and a funnel cake. They even have Beer Ice Cream on the menu for you hard core beer lovers!

LUCK is now open for lunch as well as dinner so you have plenty of opportunity to try out this new eatery. Or sidle up to the bar and grab a cold one (or two) and support local all the way!
