Four Ways to Enjoy Parigi

Any day of the week, you’ll spot happy patrons at Parigi. Though the name translates to “Paris” in Italian, the neighborhood bistro serves Italian, French, and American cuisine. Opened about 30 years ago, this Dallas eatery was modeled after the bistros of Paris but finished with a New York vibe. If you haven’t tried it yet, we’re breaking down the many ways to enjoy this local gem.

1) Afternoon sips and bites on the patio.

The patio at Parigi has a slightly magical ambiance. While set directly on the busy Oaklawn Avenue, it is cozily nestled underneath the shade of trees adorned with lights. Small tables are surrounded by potted flowers, immaculately maintained. A portion of the patio is raised like a front porch, featuring some tables with bench-seating and pillows. Snag one of these, and you’ll have a perfect perching spot for sipping. Choose from a variety of wines or any of their fabulous cocktails. Their “in between” menu {served between lunch and dinner} offers bites to compliment your beverage.

The daily sangria special was refreshing without being overly sweet.

If you’re bothered by slightly crowded or loud restaurants, this might be your best bet. The small bistro greets a bustling crowd for dinner, especially on the weekends.

2) Brunch with your family.

Brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays, and the ambiance is perfectly fitting for a nice mid-day meal. Without being stuffy, Parigi lends itself to an upscale brunching spot.

3) A cosmopolitan dinner with friends.

In their own words a “cosmopolitan and refined” space with an “upbeat and friendly atmosphere,” Parigi is a happening spot during dinner time. On a recent Saturday night visit, we reserved a table for four and enjoyed our evening. However, with some of us preferring a more relaxed vibe, the noise level and close-quarters seating arrangement reminded us to return at a less busy time. However, if you prefer a very lively dinner and appreciate the charm of a small space with lots of movement, you’ll be pleased. Here are some highlights from our meal:

Deviled eggs made a great starting bite.

The Cali Roll Deconstructed was the table favorite.

Papardelle with lobster, shrimp, crab, and crimini mushrooms.

4) Dessert date.

Skip the dinner crowd and stop in for some sweet treats.

This peach cobbler was seriously to-die-for, even loved by those without a sweet tooth.

Don't let this coffee drink fool you -- it's an adult beverage.

Though signature dishes remain on the menu, other options change seasonally to bring fresh and local ingredients to your plate. Pick your favorite scenario and discover this neighborhood spot, or return and experience it in a new way.
