There's a new kid on the block-the trendy Henderson Avenue block, that is. She's sleek, rustic, chic and inviting all at the same time. Her name is Gemma and you must get to know her. Brought to you by husband and wife Allison Yoder and Stephen Roger, this eatery is hitting it out of the park in the first few weeks of opening. Debuting in late December, Dallas foodies have been quick to embrace this Hamptons-esque eatery with open arms, bestowing upon it rave reviews, and for good reason. Dining here on a Saturday night, the restaurant was buzzing with diners anticipating a great meal and the kitchen was deftly serving up the delicious fare to wow them. Nothing beats the excitement of an open kitchen where  we can watch the chefs at work.

Napa Wines {Gemma Photo}

Texas Heat Cocktail

Find 20 plus bottles of beer, signature craft cocktails and an international wine list with some great Napa Valley selections. We loved the Texas Heat cocktail-a spicy and smoky combination that started the meal with a kick.

Smoked Gouda and Fig Scone

Baked Oysters

Butter Salad

The table is immediately graced with complimentary Rosemary Breadsitcks and delicious Smoked Gouda and Fig Scones. A nice upgrade from the usual bread and butter offered at most spots. We quickly decided on Baked Oysters and a simple Butter Salad to start off.

Flat Iron Steak with Kennebec Fries and Chimichurri

Brick Chicken with Marble Potatoes and Broccolini

Moving on to the main course, we sampled the Brick Chicken and Flat Iron Steak. Both cooked to perfection with sauces and accompaniments that enhanced every bite and had us cleaning our plates-even the large stack of crispy fries! The menu offers dishes that are inspired by global cuisines including French, Italian and Asian influences and has something for everyone.

Chocolate Caramel Tart with Pine Nuts and Toasted Marshmallows

We ended the meal on a high note, with cappucinos and a decadent dessert of Valrhona Chocolate and Caramel Tart with Pine Nuts and Toasted Marshmallows.

Gemma is currently open for dinner and late night bites - staying open until 1am Wednesday through Sunday evenings, which gives you plenty of time to savor this newest gem on the east side. Just look for the eatery at the end of the strip with the white picket fence and the happy diners at the door.
