Harvest Seasonal Kitchen immediately welcomes you with a large porch seating area complete with relaxed swings and comfy chairs. You'll feel like you are sitting on the front porch of a dear friend’s home. The restaurant is large and open, with cozy booths and tables and an open kitchen area for patrons to watch executive chef Andrea Shackelford create her masterpieces.

The menu is a unique blend of Texas, New Orleans and Southern influences. To start, we tried the recommended Boudin Fritters, which were served on a bed of sorrel, parsley and lemon aioli. Filled with delicious rice and spices, they were perfectly paired with the cool lemon aioli and an excellent way to start our meal.

Delicious Boudin Fritters, an excellent starter option.

Harvest has an extensive wine list, several beer selections and a specialty infused cocktail list that makes for a difficult decision. I recommend the Grapefruit, a delightful combination of St. Germaine, grapefruit juice, and vodka that is infused in house with grapefruit slices.

For dinner, try the Braised Beef Belly, topped with a red wine and tomato braise and served with the creamiest garlic mashed red potatoes you have ever tried.

Another wonderful option is the Pork Tenderloin, which is lightly seasoned and paired with a sweet potato hash, queso fresco and spicy salsa verde. The sweet potatoes were slightly caramelized, and the pork was cooked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tex-Mex twist with the addition of the salsa and queso fresco.

Harvest offers several fish options, including a beer battered Texas striped bass and a pan-roasted red fish, served with hominy and sausage. For dessert, the most recommended option is the Apple Brown Betty, served with caramel ice cream. The desserts, like the dinner menu, are seasonal. Chef Shackelford also created a Tomato Soup Spice Cake and a Lemon Goat-Cheese Ice Box Pie, served with blackberry jam.

At the end of the evening, patrons receive a card with the details of Harvest’s agricultural education endeavor, the Seed Project. Plant the paper outside your home, and you’ll be gifted with beautiful Texas wildflowers. While you would be hard pressed to forget the excellent meal shared at Harvest, these flowers will serve as a reminder to come back and try the next seasonal menu!

Harvest is open Monday through Saturday and takes reservations through their website or over the phone. Harvest also offers a special lunch menu, which includes several delicious sounding sandwiches.
