If your weekend isn’t complete without brunch, and you crave kicking back with a Bloody Mary or two, Whiskey Cake is calling your name. Named after their famous Whiskey Cake dessert, Whiskey Cake serves local, fresh, farm-to-table cuisine and over 150 different offerings of whiskey, and craft cocktails. Located in Plano and from the restaurant group that brought us Velvet Taco, Sixty Vines, and Ida Claire, Whiskey Cake will soon become your go-to spot for more than just weekend brunch.

While waiting for our table on a Sunday morning, we noticed the blooming garden outside the restaurant. Whiskey Cake takes local and fresh to a whole new level. They understand the meaning of high quality food and it shows in their tasty menu. Everything Whiskey Cake serves is farm-to-table, made from scratch cuisine. They are also focused on protecting the environment through reusing and refurbishing. Our coasters were cardboard squares, they use herbs from their garden, and also utilize solar panels for their electricity. While the building resembles an old downtown warehouse with exposed brick and Thomas Edison light bulbs, the vibe is cozy and warm with plenty of booths, sofas, and chairs to make guests want to sit down and stay a while.

Whiskey Cake used herbs and vegetables from their outdoor garden in their menu and cocktails.

Grab a Bloody Mary at the DIY Bloody Mary Bar!

No matter when you go, make sure to order the 3 Little Pigs. These slider sandwiches can do no wrong - complete with pulled pork, a kale slaw, local whiskey BBQ sauce and crispy onions on the tastiest challah bun. I also opted for the Hangover Burger and, to add a little green to the meal, a side of the Kale and Pomegranate salad. Juicy and mouth watering, the Hangover Burger was everything you'd want in a brunch burger, and it is served with a side of their house made seasoned chips. I am usually a fries kind of girl but these were some of the best chips I’ve ever tasted! The salad was a refreshing complement to the heavy brunch, especially with a delicious, crispy poached egg on top. Because you can’t brunch without a little booze, we opted for the DIY Bloody Mary bar, a fun twist to your weekend drink. Let the food coma begin!

A must order item- the 3 Little Pigs are to die for!

Looking for something lighter? Opt for the Kale and Pomegranate salad with a crispy poached egg.

When a restaurant is named after their signature dessert, there is no excuse not to try it. Prepare to dig into a heavenly slice of sticky toffee cake topped with in-house spiced pecans covered in crème anglaise and a healthy dollop of whipped cream. All you need now is a long nap! Whiskey Cake serves equally as delicious lunch and dinner, making it a great go-to spot for weekend brunch, group dinners, or a date night at the bar over a glass of whiskey. Cheers!
