It’s hard to miss the new neon “Majestic” sign at the corner of McKinney and Monticello avenues. Henry’s Majestic has taken over the old Acme F&B spot, and the bar/restaurant combination shows promise that it will last longer than the previous tenants in the familiar location.

Newly opened and ready to break into the ever popular Knox area, the restaurant has the same layout as its previous owner, but they have better utilized the back bar area and created a dog-friendly patio complete with large screen TVs, outdoor fireplace, and pool table. At 4,860 sqare feet, the space is a bit on the large side. They are hoping to fill it up with hungry restaurant patrons and those just looking for a good drink, considering their motto is “Good food. Strong drink.”

Industrial chic interior highlights the large open space great for groups.

The restaurant was started by the company behind Bread Winners Café and Bakery and the Quarter Bar, and they brought in Rosanne “Roe” Dileo as chef de cuisine and general manager, who happens to be a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen.

Enjoy a Sanchez Gimlet cocktail with Roasted Mushroom Arancini.

The Maple Bourbon Meatballs are packed with juicy flavor and rest in a slightly Asian-infused sauce topped with a fennel slaw.

The menu highlights American dishes with a few twists and features creative cocktails and beer served from 24 taps. You can start with one of the shared plates, including the Maple Bourbon Meatballs, Marrow Bones, or Roasted Mushroom Aranicini. They also offer oysters and a cured meats and cheese board.

The Crystal Creek Rotiserrie Half Chicken is juicy on the inside with a crispy skin and served with roasted vegetables.

The Texas 'Pho' is the most interesting item on the menu with a fusion of Texan and Asian flavors in a spicy broth.

Henry's Marrow Spiked Burger is piled high with cripsy bacon and served with extra crispy potato chips.

Main plates range from hearty salads like the Farmers Chicken Salad to the Crystal Creek Rotisserie Half Chicken. If you are in the mood for a large burger piled high with crispy bacon, try the Henry’s Marrow Spiked Burger. And for the most creative dish on the menu, order the Texas ‘Pho,’ which comes with brisket and a soft boiled egg in a punchy broth.

The food overall at Henry’s Majestic was really good. Everything was flavorful and cooked well. The menu isn’t overly large, which we appreciate, but there are plenty of choices to please picky palates. Our only complaint about our evening spent at the restaurant was the service. It was very slow, and we had to track down our waitress on multiple occasions. As the establishment is brand new, we think this issue is just a growing pain and hopefully service will improve over the coming weeks.

Henry’s Majestic serves brunch on the weekends and with such an incredible dog-friendly patio, we envision this restaurant being a popular Saturday morning spot. Reservations are recommended for parties of six or more and complimentary valet is provided.
