If you’re Catholic, deciding on a tasty Friday lunch spot during lent can be a hassle. While there are some options, thinking of them on the fly can prove tricky, resulting in boredom with the same old options. Have no fear; we are here to rescue you from this food slump!

Have you been to Flying Fish? They serve up all sorts of tasty, lent-friendly options from perfectly seasoned (order it “Snappy” for a spicy kick), grilled fish and veggies to oysters on the half shell and fish tacos.

You’ll almost feel like you’re at the beach dining in one of Florida's friendly seafood shacks with their fun, casual atmosphere. Head over on Sundays for the Preacher’s Special: 50 cent oysters on the half shell! Flying Fish has additional locations in Addison, Arlington and Fort Worth.

For a similar cuisine Uptown style, head to The Shell Shack. Create your own boil from a list of fresh shellfish, seasonings, and heat level. You can even pay a few dollars extra to have it de-shelled if you don’t want the mess.

If seafood isn’t your thing, pay True Food Kitchen a visit. Between the edamame dumplings with white truffle oil and the inside out quinoa burger (no really, it’s GOOD), even meat lovers can leave feeling satisfied.

If you need a little cheese in your life, find Ruthie’s Rolling Café. Go where she goes and you will find ooey gooey goodness. Not only is it fun to switch it up and enjoy food truck grub, you can enjoy your lunch outside in this beautiful spring weather.

We hope these provide a little food inspiration for lunching in the Lenten season, but they’re so good that your non-Catholic friends can join without feeling like they're doing you a favor. We are betting you will all want to return regularly. What are your favorite non-meat dishes? We want to know!
