Frank Sinatra. Wine. Pizza. Patio views. That’s what you get when you visit Coal Vines in Uptown. Nestled in an unsuspecting location at the intersection of Cedar Springs and Maple, this popular spot at first glance looks like any old patio restaurant. But walk up and you'll immediately see why this place is special.

Velvet-draped walls, exposed brick, and wine galore create a swanky vibe.

The ambiance here is unbeatable. You could be the only table in the place, or be one of hundreds of people, and somehow it still feels intimate.

Equipped with heaters for cold days as well as air conditioniing, you really can't go wrong dining al fresco.

Not only do you get city views, there's also great people watching and an endless view of vino!

The patio offers beautiful views of buildings nearby and if you choose to sit inside you may see walls of wine, velvet, portraits of Mr. Blue Eyes himself, or the staff throwing pizza dough. Frank Sinatra and other crooners are usually playing in the background. It’s all relatively high-end, of course, given the location, yet maintains a lively and relaxed atmosphere. It’s an understated upscale location, which makes it ideal for celebrities to frequent. Biggest chances to spot one are before a Mavs or Stars game, as this spot is close to the American Airlines Center.

But what about the food? Does it match the atmosphere? The answer is a resounding “YES!”

Appetizers, including share-worthy salads and bruschetta, showcase fresh ingredients and are sized to wet your appetite, but not fill you up.

White special pizza, gluten free style, with chicken. Delicioso!

When it comes to the main attraction, pizza steals the show. They also offer authentic Italian dishes, including a Baked Eggplant and Chicken Milanese. It’s beneficial to note that many dishes here, including the pizza, can be ordered gluten free.

If you're a meat lover, try the Bolognese pie, pictured here.

As far as the beverage selection, Coal Vines has an extensive wine menu and frequently offers deals on bottles from various wineries. They also offer Italian and domestic bottled beers.

Coal Vines is open for lunch for those that work or are shopping in the area, and of course, for dinner. Usually by 7pm you can expect to wait, especially on weekend and AAC event nights. Take advantage of the complimentary valet services as it's nearly impossible to find a parking spot near the restaurant.
