Restaurant Hop

Why stick to one restaurant when you can nosh your way through several in one night? By visiting mulitple spots for smaller bites, you get a change of scenery along with different experiences, making for a fun evening. We chose the Uptown area, where there's such a plethora of hip restaurants it's hard to choose just one. Grab your girls on a Friday evening and hop to it!

We began our night at the chic, upscale cocktail den, Bowen House.  Wind down after a long day at work with a light appetizer and a brew, or a cocktail on the front porch. Uniquely, this establishment doesn't have a traditional drink menu; tell them your favorite flavors, and they create something wonderfully personal for you. Requesting something light and refreshing but not too sweet, I received bubbly with blueberry, lemon, and lavender. Ahh. It was spot on. For snacking, go with the Brisket Nachos. They're piled high with brisket, queso freso and pico de gallo, perfectly complimenting the custom cocktails.

Our next next stop was Savor, located on the grounds of Uptown's Klyde Warren Park. We love this spot not just for the amazing view {that makes you feel as though you're in New York's Central Park}, but also for the incredible food. We grabbed a couple of brews and traditional cocktails on the patio surrounded by the sights and sounds of the city. There are several small bites and appetizers to choose from at Savor - fitting for a night of restaurant hopping. The Crispy Shrimp and Calamari was savory and sweet and the perfect pairing for our drinks. The Hummus Platter was delicious as well, with pimento cheese, hummus and roasted tomatoes. {Our favorite was the Pimento!}

Honey Lavender Mule {Reyka Vodka, Lime Juice, Rosemary Simple, Ginger Beer}

As the sun set, our cravings shifted to champagne and desserts. We choose the next two spots based on their specific offerings and ease of walking from one spot to the other.

Dee Lincoln's Dining Room and Bubble Bar is no ordinary wine bar. In addition to vino, they also boast an elaborate collection of champagne, stored at the ideal temperature. While their food menu is small, enjoyable selections are easy to find. Order a flatbread and a few glasses of bubbly and relax on the starlit patio.

Last but certainly not least, we finished our night at Ocean Prime. Renowned for its seafood and steaks, their dessert menu holds its own and made for a sweet ending to the evening. The Ten Layer Carrot Cake, topped with a tart pineapple glaze, was incredibly moist and delicious. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie was a heavenly peanut butter mousse with bitter sweet chocolate ganache - a table favorite! There's live music in the bar and a lovely patio where you can enjoy your dessert and cappucino in peace.
