More than just tasty Latin cuisine, Deep Ellum's Salsera is a perfect spot to try out your salsa skills, grab an espresso before work and even nosh on late-night street tacos. Salsera transforms into an entertainment lounge at night, offering salsa lessons, Latin dancing, karaoke, and open mic nights. It's a great venue in Deep Ellum for dancing, drinks, and fun.

Salsera's dining room turns into a dance floor on the weekends

A walk up cafe to grab your morning coffee

In the morning, Salsera focuses on serving delicious espresso brews featuring beans from Oak Cliff Roasters. They offer espresso, cappuccinos, cortados, lattes and more. Pair your brew with one of their pastries to start your day off right!

The Mojito and Mariachi Paloma cocktail

The Coco Loco cocktail

When we stopped by for dinner, we were greeted with fantastic service and unique cocktails. The cocktail menu at Salsera is comprised of handcrafted concoctions using housemade syrups, fresh juices, and homemade recipes. We started with the Hibiscus Mojito and the Mariachi Paloma. The Hibiscus Mojito was subtly sweet, featuring fresh hibiscus syrup, rum, muddled lime, mint and a splash of club soda. The Mariachi Paloma was a nice take on a classic margarita with the addition of grapefruit juice.

After hearing rave reviews from our server, we also tried the Coco Loco, a recipe she created herself. We were surprised to find this coconut cocktail was light and refreshing rather than creamy and dense. The Coco Loco features rumchata, rum, creme de cacao, coconut cream, coconut water and a splash of soda water.

Chips and three cheese blend queso

The Chips and Queso is a classic way to start your meal -- a melted three cheese blend with seared bell peppers, onions, and jalapenos. The queso was creamy and indulgent, and like real Texans, we finished the bowl in record time. On our next visit, we'll plan on trying the Truffle Fries and the Ahi Tuna Ceviche.

The classic Torta de Hamon and hand cut french fries

Rum Glazed Pork Skewers with rice and fried plantains

The large selection of entrees includes traditional tortas, tacos, salads, and specialty plates. We tried the Torta de Hamon and the Rum Glazed Pork Skewers. The Torta de Hamon is served on a buttered fresh torta filled with refried beans, ham, lettuce, tomato, and onions and is topped with avocado and queso fresco. This torta was divine, from the fresh bread to the delicious combination of fillings. The tortas are sizeable, so we suggest sharing if you're looking for a smaller meal.

The Rum Glazed Pork Skewers were tender and flavorful. Each skewer included stacks of juicy pork, pineapple, peppers and onions. The skewers come with rice and delightful fried plantains. Other dishes that caught our eye were the Pollo Frito Torta and the Skillet entree.

Whether you're stopping by for a morning coffee, date night, or salsa dancing with friends, Salsera makes for an excellent choice and a fun experience.
