Si Lom Thai Asian Fusion is tucked away in an office building in a plaza below Oak Lawn Avenue. Its unassuming décor, laminated menu, and somewhat strange location are not clear indicators of how good the food really is. Si Lom is named after a sub-District in Bangkok, Thailand, and the food at this Dallas restaurant reflects its namesake. The menu is large and is reminiscent of other Thai food places in Dallas. It isn’t necessarily unique, but it definitely is delicious.

Crispy Spring Rolls

We started with the Crispy Spring Rolls. A serving of five small rolls came to our table right out of the fryer. Thin ribbons of vegetables and spices make up the sweet filling while the exterior provides a serious crunch. They are thin and therefore have a good ratio of filling to crunch, and when topped with the sweet and spicy chili sauce, we would recommend starting with an order.

The menu has several sections, including Appetizers, Salads, Fried Rice, Noodles, Curry, Big Bowl Noodle Soups, Soups, Chef Special, and Entrees. Si Lom has such a wide variety of dishes and such an extensive menu, it should appeal to everyone in your party.

Pad Thai

Under the Noodles section, we tried the Pad Thai with chicken. It was spicy, flavorful, and really tasty. The portion was huge and could easily be split. The peanut flavor was there but not too strong, and the sauce coating the thin rice noodles had just the right amount of spice.

Our favorite dish was the Mussaman Avocado Curry under the Chef Special heading. A luscious curry sauce coated the plate under pieces of chicken, raisins, and slices of avocado. The mixture may sound strange, but everything paired perfectly together. The sauce was sweet and spicy at the same time, and the spice of the curry was counterbalanced by the cool and creamy avocado. We would highly recommend giving this curry dish a try.

While the location of Si Lom isn’t ideal and can be somewhat hard to find, they do have a big outdoor patio. Parking is free in a garage behind the restaurant, which makes it very convenient in an area that can be hard to find a parking spot.

Si Lom offers take out, which would be an excellent way to enjoy the delicious food, and they have lunch specials served from 11am – 3pm during the week. They also have a nice Happy Hour with discounted drinks and appetizers. The prices are reasonable, and overall, Si Lom is a great restaurant on Oak Lawn that should be bumped to the top of your list of Thai food places to try.
