The Happiest Hour is a lively new restaurant perfect for drinks and dinner before or after an event at American Airlines Center. It's located in the heart of the Harwood District (aka Uptown) and only half a mile from the AAC. The Happiest Hour is a large space with bar seating, indoor and patio dining and a large rooftop with a breathtaking view of the Dallas skyline. It's only been open for a few weeks and has already become one of Dallas' hottest spots. Visit on a Saturday and Sunday and expect crowds watching football and sporting events, mingling with large groups and socializing over bites and drinks.

Glass of Pinot Noir on the Patio

Mustang Morning Shooter

The Happiest Hour has a large selection of drinks including cocktails, wine on tap and dozens of beers on draft. The cocktail list will catch any Texas sports lover's eye. From the Longhorn Libation to Stars Green Envy, they cover every Texas collegiate and professional team. We favored the Mustang Morning Shooter; similar to a Moscow mule, it's comprised of Cinco Vodka, Marie Brizard Blackberry, lime juice, simple syrup and ginger beer. It's a refreshing cocktail for patio lounging.

Loaded Cheddar Waffle Fries

During our visit, we decided to split a few appetizers since choosing one was too difficult. The Loaded Cheddar Waffle Fries topped with cheddar cheese, chives, bacon, fresh and spicy jalapenos and a side of ranch dressing were the highlight of the "Happy to Share" menu.

Crudite Platter

For a lighter option, we also nibbled on the Crudite Platter, which is basically a small garden loaded with every veggie you could ask for. It's ideal for sharing. For dipping, it's served with tzatziki and hummus dips.

Kung Pao Cauliflower

We kicked up our appetizer feast with a little spice by ordering the Kung Pao Cauliflower. Lightly fried cauliflower florets were tossed with Kung Pao sauce, cashews and scallions.

For entrees, there's a selection of sandwiches, smoked meats, and Kuby's sausage. The meats and sausages are slow smoked over Texas pecan wood. The most tempting on our visit were the "Dino" Rib, which serves 1-4 people, the Certified Angus Brisket, and the Whistle Stop Sandwich. Sweet endings like the Chipwich, a chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream sandwich, and homestyle pies {baked daily} round out the menu.

Next time you're heading to an event at American Airlines, skip the arena food and stop by the Happiest Hour for drinks and bites first. Don't pass up the valet parking. It's free, and you can swing by to pick your car up after the game.
