I was born a Hillstone Restaurant Group fan. Every birthday and celebration throughout my childhood was spent at a Hillstone restaurant, so naturally I was ecstatic when I heard that they were was opening another one of their concepts in Dallas - The Honor Bar, in Highland Park Village. I had been casually stalking the construction progress and just a few days after their grand opening, I headed over for a leisurely lunch.

Perched underneath large oak trees in the corner of Highland Park Village sits The Honor Bar, a small and cozy restaurant, perfect for long lunches and happy hour cocktails. The restaurant offers a limited number of high-back booths in the dining room, an outdoor patio and a bar that looks like it belongs in a magazine. Even though they do not take reservations, the bar is an inviting spot to sip a few cocktails while you wait for your table. They have a delicious cocktail menu, with everything from a classic margarita to the Bee's Knees, made with lemon juice, gin and honey syrup. They also have an extensive list of wines by the glass for wine lovers. The Honor Bar fits in perfectly with the Highland Park Village vibe and makes a great addition to the luxurious shops that surround it.

Their one-page menu will appeal to everyone. You'll find classic Hillstone favorites like the Deviled Eggs, Honor Burger, and Emerald Kale Salad, as well as some new items to Dallas like the Smoked Trout Dip and The Roasted Lamb Sandwich. A personal Honor Bar favorite is the Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich made with buttermilk fried chicken, swiss cheese, and spicy slaw. Looking for something a little lighter? The Emerald Kale & Rotisserrie Chicken salad is delicious. I could eat this salad every day! They have a great list of appetizers, ideal for sharing, as well as a number of other salad options, sandwiches, and even an omelette if you are craving breakfast. Honor Bar serves the tastiest bar food you'll ever eat. Never tried a Hillstone Restaurant? Take it from a Hillstone pro, start with the deviled eggs and order the Honor Burger. While the burger is a little pricey at $15, it will become your new craving. Don't forget to add the hand-cut fries as a side!

Don't go to The Honor Bar without ordering Ding's Crispy Sandwich, an Honor Bar staple.

Hillstone establishments are known for their impeccable service. When you dine at one of their restaurants, expect that your water glasses will always be full, the food consistently delicious and served quickly. While I was a little disappointed by the slower than normal service at The Honor Bar, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt since they are still working out kinks as a new restaurant.

The hand-cut fries are a great complement to Ding's Crispy Chicken Sandwich or Burger.

If you are a fan of Hillstone, Houston's or R+D Kitchen, you'll love this new Dallas addition in the heart of Highland Park. It's a great Saturday lunch spot after shopping, or a great stop for drinks and dinner after work. Next time you are craving classic American favorites, head to The Honor Bar for consistently delicious food and cocktails.
