As we all aim to get healthier and provide our bodies with the fuel they need, one restaurant has continued to be a go-to spot for delicious and healthy alternatives. True Food Kitchen is the ideal place to enjoy a meal, whether you are on a diet or just wanting to feel your best after a tasty meal. This restaurant approaches an anti-inflammatory diet with pizzaz and offers something for everyone.

The atmosphere is open and bright, with tables packed into the contemporary, expansive space. There are plenty of bar seats for first-come first-served diners, and the covered patio is hard to beat with Dallas’ fair weather.

Medicine Man juice and Kale-Aid juice

The menu boasts of healthy options, starting with their array of fresh juices. Two of our favorites are the Kale-Aid and the Medicine Man. The vibrant green Kale-Aid juice combines kale, apple, cucumber, celery, lemon and ginger for a refreshing, smooth tasting drink. The Medicine Man is a tart and sweet concoction of pomegranate, honey, cranberry, soda and black tea.

Appetizers include a Kale and Avocado Dip, an Herbed Hummus, and a Vegetable Crudite. The Vegetable Crudite is a gorgeous presentation of raw, colorful vegetables that makes for an easy dish to share with the table.

One thing we love about True Food Kitchen is how easy it is to identify options for those with dietary restrictions. Certain menu items are marked Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian to help diners choose wisely. And even if a dish doesn’t fit one of these guidelines, the restaurant adjusts the menu seasonally, so you can always be confident that what you are eating is fresh, healthy, and guilt-free.

Harvest Chopped salad with squash, apples, walnuts, and salmon

Inside Out Quinoa Burger with Sweet Potato Hash and Kale Salad

The salads and sandwiches are creative and packed full of nutrition. Two of our favorite salads are the Harvest Chopped and the Chicken Chopped. We highly recommend adding a piece of perfectly grilled salmon on top of any salad. One unique sandwich option is the Inside Out Quinoa Burger. Fresh veggies, hummus and tzatziki are piled high between two quinoa patties. These quinoa patties can be tricky to eat and don’t hold together like a normal bun, but when eating all of the veggies and hummus together with the quinoa, the overall flavor is vibrant and fresh and the meal is satisfying and filling.

True Food Kitchen isn’t just great for lunch, however. Light entree options that make for a great dinner include the Red Chili Shrimp, the Teriyaki Bowl, and the Spaghetti Squash Casserole. They also have delicious pizzas that are made with a spelt and flax dough. Our favorite is the Butternut Squash Pizza that is topped with walnuts and smoked mozzarella.

While lunch and dinner are great options here, don't forget about brunch! This restaurant is the perfect place to relax on the patio with a refreshing drink and beautiful, healthy dish that won't weigh you down for the rest of the day. We also recommend checking out their Happy Hour. With $5 cocktails and discounted small plates every Monday-Friday, it’s hard to beat!
