Twisted Root Burger Co., is a go-to, never fail burger joint that's a favorite for metroplex diners. Starting out in Deep Ellum over ten years ago, Twisted Root paved the way for the gourmet burger rage in Dallas, showcasing fresh ground burgers and creative made-in-house toppings. Since then, they have expanded to Richardson, Plano, and beyond - even opening locations in other Texas cities and states.

The upstairs patio at the Deep Ellum location has a scenic view of the Dallas skyline.

The Deep Ellum location has a unique charm. From their upstairs patio that overlooks the Dallas skyline to their quirky interior, we love the laid-back atmosphere. At Twisted Root the process is easy. You order and pay at the counter, then wait for them to assign you the celeb name like "Dirty Harry" or "Madonna" that they will use to call out your order. They highly suggest sticking to their signature burgers (and not changing a thing!). While you decide, don't forget to grab a tall boy from their ice trough. They have all the favorites like Lonestar, PBR and more as well as plenty of draft craft beers.

The Verde Burger topped with hatch chiles has just the right amount spice.

The Western Burger isn't for the faint of heart.

It's easy to try something new each time you visit Twisted Root. The Verde is a beef patty topped with plenty of hatch chiles, guacamole, and pepper jack cheese and has just the right amount of spice. The Western is not for those with a weak stomach. This massive burger is topped with pepper jack, bacon, onion strings and jalapenos. It's spicy, crunchy, and definitely filling. But you don't have to stick with a beef patty. Twisted Root also offers exotic rotating proteins like kangaroo, venison, elk, ostrich, boar and more. When a burger is too much, we opt in for their salads. The house salad with any of their patties is our favorite lighter option.

As far as sides, they suggest you order an individual size, but we recommend getting a few to share with your table. Onion strings, french fries, fried pickles, flash-fried veggies and cheese fries! With options like those, it's hard not to want to try them all. Fun fact: all of the condiments and pickles are house made, using their own special recipes.

Don't skip out on dessert. This month's signature custard shake was Red Velvet.

it's been a few years since Twisted Root Burger Co. was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, but they have been faithful to their original concept. When it comes to burgers, beers, and fries, Twisted Root will always be one of those spots that never disappoints!
