YO Steakhouse is a True Texan Experience

Located in the historic West End, YO Steakhouse is the ideal destination for an authentic steak or wild game dinner. From their atmosphere and decor to their menu offerings, YO is a true Texas steakhouse. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great selection for a variety of occasions. Try it for everything from lunch with friends to dinner with coworkers or a romantic date night {nestle up in a booth}. The decor is rustic and, yep, very Texan. We especially loved the twinkle lights and longhorn antlers displayed throughout the restaurant, each of which are from the YO Ranch.

Offering an extensive wine list, draft beers and craft cocktails, it's easy to find a drink fit for anyone. If you're looking to try a cocktail, we suggest ordering one with their cactus juice. The juice comes from the cacti at their ranch! The wine list is the real winner, though. They offer many world-class wines as well as one of the largest half-bottle selections in Texas. We tried everything from a 2012 red blend to a sweet and bubbly Moscato, and each sip paired well with our selections.

For starters, the Warm Arugula and Spinach Salad with Grilled Quail is a must. The Grilled Quail was juicy and tender and was nicely complemented by the shiitakes, oranges, quail egg, and candied pecans, all tossed with warm maple pancetta vinaigrette. If you're looking for something to share with the table, Louie's Venison Roll Ups are little pieces of heaven. Bacon wrapped venison, jalapeno and smoked mozzarella grilled and brushed with molasses dijon left us wanting more. Save yourself the worry of choosing just one starter and order the Wild Game Platter for a taste of everything.

We tried several wild game selections that night, and to choose a favorite would be a sin. From the Venison Chop to the Buffalo Steak, each choice was beyond satisfying. The venison was an axis chop topped with a decadent brandy cream. On the side, we had a grilled medjool date stuffed with Maytag blue cheese and chili dusted bacon.

Perfectly cut, cooked and seasoned, the Buffalo Steak is an outstanding entree. The thick cut was cooked medium for us, leaving it pink in the middle. Topped with pan seared foie gras and a Madera truffle demi-glaze, it was the icing on top of the cake. Unlike any other steak we've had before, we fell in love with buffalo after our meal.

Pineapple Carpaccio makes a divine light desert. 

After a heavy meal,  it's hard to think dessert, but we tried the light and refreshing Pineapple Carpaccio. Thinly sliced pineapple topped with vanilla basil syrup and prickly pear celery root sorbet, it was a fantastic ending to our wild game dinner.

Parking in the West End can be difficult, so try parking in the lot behind the restaurant or simply using the valet. Wild game, classic steaks, and great wine make for an impeccable steakhouse experience. The YO Steakhouse brand has been around since 1880 and continues to serve Dallas delicious food from their very own ranch, making it truly Texan.
